kolb joins Hermes Standard Initiative

|   News

An open, non-proprietary and vendor-independent TCP / IP and XML-based protocol for machine-to-machine communication in SMT assembly lines.

The Hermes Standard provides flexible data structures for the seamless exchange of all major types of assembly-related data, such as dimensions and various types of IDs. In this way, it is possible to keep track of all the boards to be assembled without having to repeatedly read barcodes or other ID tags on each machine. Thus, the Hermes standard is a future-proof key element for a controlled and transparent board flow management.

The Hermes standard was initiated and developed by a group of leading equipment suppliers to make the next big step towards advanced process integration, as existing older standards lack the basis for substantial enhancements, such as the integration of state-of-the-art network standards or technologies.

The Hermes Standard Initiative is open to all equipment manufacturers who want to play an active part in provide the benefits of Industry 4.0 for their customers.
